A little about myself...

Howdy! My name is Glenn. I've been using the "RangerCub" nickname for around 10 years now. The first is probably the simplest. I used to drive a Ford Ranger and have since upgraded to an Explorer (Which SUCKS fuel!) Another is that I have always admired the Forest Rangers in our country. Rangers watch out for bears, don't they? Finally, there was a spacecraft with the name "Ranger" which took about 17,000 pictures of the moon before it crashed on it's surface. I'm an ameteur photographer that can take some damn fine pictures from time to time. |
| Your basic "growin up" stuff... | |
| I was born in a suburb of Los Angeles in September of '74 (Virgo). I moved to the city La Mirada after a few years. (La Mirada is a Suburb about 22 miles south east of Los Angeles). Pre-School was at the local church, called "PALS" (Play and learn School). My pre-teen years were spent at Gardenhill Elementary, where I attended K - 7th grades. Eventually I moved on, and graduated La Mirada High School in June of 92. About 4 years after graduating high school, I moved into my own place in the city of La Habra (about 26 miles south east of Los Angeles) in Orange County. | |
| The Employment Stuff... | |
My first "real" job was working for the La Mirada Swap Meet, when I was just 14. After 2 years of that garbage (literally), I went over and hired on for Knott's Berry Farm and worked for the "Carnival Games" division. After a short vacation, (winter layoff) I went back after 6 months (summer again) to work in Camp Snoopy. That fun lasted about 3 months because of a supervisory conflict (can you believe they said I was flirting with a girl!? LOL). After being jobless for a whole month, I went to work for the local Blockbuster Video and got sick of dusting shelves, and late night inventorys. That lasted a whole 6 months. Moving on, I went to work for the Ramada Inn at Buena Park (Back by Knott's again!). Boy I can tell a few stories from what I saw / learned there! (Cross Dressers / Pimps etc...) I hired on with AT&T which then became Lucent Technologies in 1996. I learned just about everything there is to know about how the world communicates, including the internet. I worked on, built and maintained over 100 different types of communications equipment. Sadly, just shy of my 10 year anniversary, I was laid off due to all the economic downsizing and industry troubles. After a couple months, I went to work as technical support for a company who manufactures and supports telephone answering services and call centers. Fortunatley they laid me off after 6 months, because working for that kind of business doesn't make you very proud of what you do. I took a few more months to see if there was something different that I wanted to do with my life. In early 2004, I took a sales position with Honda and actually sold cars. After 3 months, and selling about 40 vehicles, I stepped down to go back after what I love to do - telecommunications. I worked "Functionality" for Best Buy for a few months during the 2004 Holiday season. This gave me to opportunity to do something I've always loved doing - hooking up and maintaining all those displays that are supposed to work! As of early 2005, I'm now back to working in Communications. While I'm not working for a telephone company, I'm doing similar work, and getting to learn new systems almost every day. Stay tuned... |
